1 March 2024

Founded in Winchester Hills

OS Industries is formally registered and begins operations in Winchester Hills, Johannesburg. The founding belief: South African organisations need infrastructure, not more applications. Initial work spans custom software, cybersecurity and technology services for small and growing businesses.

April to July 2024

Early client work and first lessons

The company secures its first significant engagements, delivering cloud migrations, database architecture and security implementations across Gauteng. A consistent pattern emerges: clients have adequate software. What they lack is the infrastructure that makes software work.

August 2024 to December 2025

From software to systems

OS Industries formally repositions. Rather than competing as one of many software vendors, the company commits to building infrastructure-grade systems. Capabilities in automation, data architecture, AI integration and enterprise platforms are developed and formalised.

Rosebank and a renewed commitment

OS Industries relocates to Rosebank, reflecting the growth in team, clients and ambition. The company formally commits to its long-term positioning as a builder of organisational operating systems, with government, financial services and enterprise operations as primary focus areas.

Gift Zikalala is the Founder of OS Industries.

Since founding the company on 1 March 2024, he has led its evolution from a software consultancy into an enterprise technology company focused on organisational operating systems, artificial intelligence, automation and digital infrastructure.

His work centres on helping organisations modernise the way they operate by designing secure, intelligent systems that connect people, data and decision-making. Rather than viewing technology as an end in itself, he believes it should serve as the foundation that enables organisations to scale, adapt and perform at their highest potential.

Under his leadership, OS Industries has delivered solutions across government, financial services, insurance, workforce development and enterprise operations, with a growing focus on AI agents, enterprise infrastructure and organisational automation.

His long-term vision is simple:

"In ten years, when people use their phones or computers to work, learn, communicate, transact or be entertained, they should in some way interact with systems built by OS Industries."

That vision continues to shape the company's direction as it builds the operating systems that organisations rely on.
